More Information
Poor Richard’s Press is actively working to support the Sustainable Green Printing initiative.  One of the key elements in our efforts is to participate with a certification body that establishes our “Chain of Custody” position in the greater effort to support responsible forestry.  Paper is, when properly managed, a renewable resource, that comes from trees.  Using paper that can be traced to these responsible and sustainable forestry practices means that PRP is a partner with many other entities such as paper mills and distributors in the use of certified (FSC or Forest Stewardship Council) papers.  No protected or “old growth” forests are used in FSC certified papers.

FSC certified papers may contain from 0 to 100% recycled content.  But, whatever percentage of recycled material is used, the remainder of “virgin” pulp can be certified to come from sustainable forests.  By working with and managing forests and paper use in a responsible way, PRP is a part of the environmental solution.

FSC certification is only one of several efforts by Poor Richard’s Press to reduce our overall company “Carbon Footprint.”  Other efforts at environmental responsibility include reduction in air polluting Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) emitted via solvents and inks; reduction in automobile emissions by carpooling for employees; separation and recycling of waste paper to reduce excess landfill; reduction of electrical use by purchasing efficient equipment and higher efficiency lighting.

Although just beginning, we are committed to exercising every effort to make cost efficient decisions that will help the environment and support our efforts to be a Sustainable Green Printer.
